Moikom ZEQO

Writer and archaeologist Moikom Zeqo (b. 1949) was born in the ancient port city of Durrës (Lat. Dyrrachium) and studied in the Faculty of History and Philology at the University of Tirana. He worked for the Museum of Archeology in Durrës as well as for the Classical and Mediaeval Art Division of the Academy of Sciences and is currently director of the National Museum of History in Tirana. His intellectual verse has been inspired in good part by the lost grandeur of his ancient ‘Dyrrachium.’ Among his verse collections are: Brenda vetes, Tirana 1974 (Inside oneself); Libër i hapur, Tirana 1986 (Open book); Njëqind zemra, Tirana 1989 (One hundred hearts); Meduza, Elbasan 1995 (Medusa); and Zodiak, Tirana 2000 (Zodiac). Zeqo has also published numerous monographs and articles on Albanian history, mythology, literature and culture.
